WHIS Partners with Mama Enlightenment Tanzania (MET)**
The World Health Innovation Summit (WHIS) is proud to announce a new partnership with Mama Enlightenment Tanzania (MET)—a dynamic, community-driven organization transforming lives through education, empowerment, and compassionate support. Together, we share a vision of a healthier, more informed, and more connected Tanzania, starting with children, young people, and families.
Mama Enlightenment Tanzania (MET) is a registered non-profit organisation committed to uplifting women, adolescents, and youth across Tanzania. MET was founded on a simple but powerful belief: awareness is the first step to transformation.
Many families, particularly in underserved communities, face daily emotional, financial, social, and health-related challenges that often go unseen and unaddressed—from mental health struggles and isolation to lack of guidance and economic hardship. MET exists to close this gap by offering:
Knowledge-based interventions
Safe spaces for learning and support
Community-driven empowerment programs
Initiatives rooted in compassion, inclusion, and dignity
Their mission is clear: transform lives through inclusive education and sustainable empowerment programs that unlock potential and inspire change.
A Shared Vision: WHIS × MET
WHIS is committed to improving health and wellbeing globally through innovation, prevention, and community-led action. Our partnership with MET represents a milestone for East Africa as we work to expand two key programmes:
1. WHISKids Tanzania – A Healthy Start for Every Child
WHISKids is our flagship programme designed to inspire healthier lifestyles for children through:
Health education
Positive wellbeing habits
Social connection
Creativity, play, and learning
Early prevention and community resilience
Through MET’s deep local knowledge and trusted relationships within Tanzanian communities, WHISKids will be adapted to the needs of children and families across rural and urban settings. Together, we will:
Support schools and community groups with engaging health and wellbeing content
Train local facilitators and youth advocates
Promote physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing
Encourage family engagement and positive role-modelling
Build a generation of confident, informed, and empowered young people
WHISKids Tanzania will become a cornerstone of local wellbeing—rooted in culture, community, and shared growth.
2. Social Prescribing for Tanzanian Communities
Social prescribing is a simple but powerful approach: connecting people to non-clinical, community-based support that improves health and quality of life.
In partnership with MET, WHIS will introduce and scale community-led social prescribing pathways across Tanzania. These pathways will help individuals access:
Mental health support
Community groups and safe spaces
Skills training and empowerment programs
Peer support networks
Financial literacy and economic resilience initiatives
Arts, sports, and wellbeing activities
This model reduces pressure on overstretched health systems while strengthening community capacity, social connection, and preventative health outcomes.
